Dana Murray is a percussionist, producer, and director of North Omaha Music and Arts. Hailing from South Omaha, Murray’s eclectic musical upbringing, influenced by gospel, R&B, and jazz, shaped his artistic identity. A Berklee College of Music graduate, Murray moved to New York where he became involved in the jazz scene. He toured the world with Wynton Marsalis and began gigging and recording with the likes of Donald Byrd, Jimmy Witherspoon, Roy Hargrove, Sherman Irby, Marc Cary and Russell Gunn.
As a producer, Murray has worked on records with a variety of local and commercial labels, including BlueNote. Most recently, he collaborated with Eric Revis on his latest album, “Sing Me Some Cry.” Some other recent collaborations have included industry heavyweights Aloe Blacc, JD Allen, Caron Wheeler, Orrin Evans, Oliver Lake, Nasheet Waits as well as a host of up-and-coming artists.
